Just wanted to do a cover for this reel.
I've previously owned the VS150 gold.  This one is a pewter/chrome combo.  I will reserve my review until after a few good weeks.

Cheers.

  2. Let me know what you think about it. I use a vs250 for the surf and for tuna is the summer. I want something else for my 9 ft. Do you think they will release a bail-less version?

  3. Guys Only thing I can say right now about the reel is 2 things:

    1. Mechanically Solid
    2. Water tight (sealed drag, knobs, shaft, both handle sides)

I want to fish it hard before a review. It will be worth the wait.

Jim, the vs250 is a great reel for tuna as I have seen good reports of fish over #200 caught in cape cod on the vs250 bailless models. This size reel on a 9 foot surf rod is ideal. No bigger though. Does your surf rod have a balancer on the butt? This reel is typical of the Shimano 8000 size reels, i.e Saragosa/Spheros. I've heard they will release a bail-less kit in the future. Also, this reel has the ability to change from auto-close bail to manual close bail. It's a function that is built into the design. Just unscrew the side plate on the rotor arm and remove the "L" shaped shaft.

    thanks
